Bandon Trails
Location
Bandon, Oregon
Description
Coore & Crenshaw faced a challenge in designing Bandon Trails, the third course at Bandon Dunes Resort, after the first two courses gained critical acclaim for their Pacific Ocean views. Unlike its predecessors, Trails moves inland into Oregon’s temperate rainforest, a vision of resort owner Mike Keiser to provide shelter from the harsh coastal winds. The design aimed to add variety to the resort’s offerings while maintaining the high standards set by the oceanfront courses.

Desert Forest Golf Club
Location
Carefree, Arizona
Description
Desert Forest Golf Club, opened in 1962, remains a true golfer’s club with firm, fast conditions and no distractions like pools. Red Lawrence’s minimalist design is among the Southwest’s finest, but soil buildup and turf issues on the push-up greens led the Club to seek an architect to restore playability and financial stability.

WeKoPa Golf Club
Location
Fort McDowell, Arizona
Description
We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, located on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, features two public 18-hole courses. Coore & Crenshaw designed the Saguaro course, opening in 2006, on rugged terrain with striking views of the Verde River Valley. Despite regulatory freedom, the Nation prioritized environmental stewardship in developing this stunning desert golf experience.

Weekapaug Golf Club
Location
Weekapaug, Rhode Island
Description
Weekapaug, a nine-hole members’ club near the Atlantic, was converted from a public course but lacked strategic design. Despite strong membership growth and a stunning clubhouse, its 1962 layout failed to embrace its seaside setting. Seeking revitalization, the Club enlisted Jeff Bradley for his expertise in shaping bunkers and enhancing course definition.

Shanqin Bay Golf Club
Location
Hainan, China
Description
After the 2008 financial crisis, golf development shifted toward Asia. Coore & Crenshaw found their place at Shanqin Bay Golf Club on Hainan, a remote Chinese province. As China’s growth surged, investors and Beijing took interest in the island’s potential. Constructing a course in such a distant location demanded strong collaboration and teamwork.
